Monday, July 24th, 2006

For immediate release – Grand Launch of www.stickymap.comNew Haven, July 24, 2006 – Today is the official grand opening of stickymap.com.

Stickymap.com, an interactive “wiki” style map website, allows users to annotate map content by creating graphical points of interest. Stickymap enhances the online map experience by allowing its members to create markers, edit and remove content, and explore new areas.

Anyone with internet access can create markers on the map and write descriptions. For example, within Manhattan there are over 30 markers including Morningside Park, Saint Lukes Hospital, and NYU Medical Center. The site currently has over 1,000 total markers and is growing daily.

Stickymap.com is developed by Yale University graduates Max Sklar and Daniel Wiznia and RPI graduate Craig Lorentzen. Sklar and Lorentzen grew up in Weston, Connecticut. Wiznia grew up in Woodbridge, Connecticut.

“We want everyone to share their neighborhoods,” Max Sklar, Chief Technical Officer, said. “Stickymap.com allows users to inform others about their communities.”

“I wanted to get a sense of my friend’s neighborhood before visiting him in New York,” Daniel Wiznia, Chief Strategy Officer, said. “I searched on Stickymap.com and I was able to learn a little about the community.”

Stickymap.com uses Google’s map technology and a wiki interface to allow users to post and edit markers.

The 4 most described cities to date:

  2. New York
  3. Boston
