WauwatosaNow.com – a local news site for Wauwatosa, WI – has used the Stickymap widget as a way for their users to collaborate in describing their neighborhood.  Already we’ve gotten a lot of increased activity in the Wauwatosa area!

Stickymap in CollegeMogul.com

Monday, March 31st, 2008

Today we’ve been written up in the blog collegemogul.com. College Mogul “is a weblog and online resource for college entrepreneurship. [They] cover and assist in the emergence, progress and impact of new and existing collegiate entrepreneurial activity.”

Stickymap was once a college project at Yale.

You can check out the blog post in the link below. They do a very good job of explaining the site succinctly, and they’ve publicized our goal of getting 10,000 installs of the facebook application.

We have also been mentioned in John Johnson’s live blog, with some more ideas for using our software:

Stickymap Mentioned in the Rensselaer Magazine

Monday, October 1st, 2007

Thanks to Craig Lorentzen, who’s done a lot of good work for Stickymap, for mentioning on his blog an article about us written in Rensselaer Magazine. Right now, I haven’t got a copy of this particular issue, but we’re waiting for their website to print the electronic version. They seem to be a little behind, as they are still up to Spring 2007.

Nonetheless, we are honored to be mentioned in this magazine from a high-profiletechnology school, and I am glad that they recognized Craig for his contributions.

Stickymap Reviewed on www.which.co.uk

Friday, August 17th, 2007

The UK site whick.co.uk decided to review8 mapping websites, and Stickymap.com was selected as one of the eight.  All eight of these websites are unique in their own way, and we’re happy to be selected among them.  We’re trying to increase that score on usability, but I think our performance is generally okay (loading markers is faster than on comparable sites). You can check out the review stub here.

You need to be a member to see the full review, which I am not. If anyone here is a member, we’re obviously interested in knowing what else it says.

Article in the Knoxville News Sentinel

Wednesday, June 27th, 2007

Kevin Saylor wrote about Stickymap.com this week in his Web Watch column in the Knoxville News Sentinel. Saylor emphasized the unique openness of our site that allows users to post any reasonable information related to a geographic location. He writes, “It’s sort of like graffiti, only it’s legal, it’s on the Internet, and you won’t accidentally get spray paint on your pants”.

As a result of this article, our hit count has grown considerably in the state of Tennessee. Saylor also went on to described our main features.

“Even if you don’t care about expanding technology, you’ll enjoy adding your favorite stores and neighborhoods to the map. Using the site’s database, you can search through Yahoo’s yellow pages and address locator. Or you can view markers by their different types. Or just use it like a regular map, if you want to be boring about it.”

Those features are a very important part of our integrated technology, and I can’t wait until we give these features a makeover in the next couple of months and they become a lot easier and seamless for the average user. The full article is located here:
